A deep, multigenerational history

Our commitment to family business began in 1973, when the Manji family moved to Canada and acquired a modest 24-suite motel in Vancouver’s West End. Through perseverance and sound financial judgment, they grew this first venture into one of Canada’s largest family-owned real estate businesses — with over 4,000 hotel rooms and 2,000 multifamily units today.

Their record of success expanded to Amica, a premier luxury senior housing brand — and a defining chapter in Canadian real estate when the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund acquired Amica for $986 million, making it the highest premium ever paid for a public real estate company in Canada.

Building on decades of operational experience, Samir Manji, of the second generation, founded Sandpiper Group on the principle that success comes from daring leaps — like his family’s move to Canada in 1973 — and from the hard work and lifelong commitment to learning by which legacies are born.

Our focus is on companies with a strong foundation for organic and external growth. These businesses are well-positioned in their markets, with the capabilities and platform to capture opportunities and create long-term value.

Mid-market
focus

We seek companies in the $2–$10M EBITDA range – large enough to embrace professional management and infrastructure, yet typically owner-operated, allowing us to steward businesses with a strong legacy while creating meaningful value.

Full ownership potential

We pursue opportunities for majority or 100% ownership, acting with a controlling interest and partnering with existing management – or, if necessary, bringing in new leadership – to drive growth and operational excellence.
